STEM Summer Institutes
These programs provide
enrichment opportunities for students
interested in science and mathematics.
The Information Assurance, Information
Security and Digital Forensics (IT)
course allows students to explore modeling
and simulation software packages and
explore digital forensics basics. Students
will create an animated story, develop
computer animation using a 3D model,
and build an interactive maze/game with
MicroWorlds. Students will develop
interactive educational mini simulations/games with Excel and Star logo, and
design, build, and program a cybernetic
device with ROBOLAB. Students will
also visit NIST and NSA and the National
Cryptologic Museum, and hear from
speakers from state and federal agencies
and local security companies. This course is
supported by NSF CyberWATCH.
The Research and Biotechnology course
focuses on applying concepts of research
and biotechnology. Students will explore
the research process, analyze genetic
markers, link concepts of medicine and
technology, complete hands-on lab activities,
and design and build a cooperative
culminating project.
